5 Step Single Limb Stance Progression




Here is one of my favorite SL Stance Progressions, using a Motion Guidance Clinician's Kit for external feedback. External feedback in studies via visual cues works better than verbal coaching and other methods we often rely on. The patient in this case is a professional dancer and personal trainer with recurrent injuries after an ACL surgery a few years ago. She had a lack of terminal knee extension as well as SL stance deficits and ankle mobility issues. Once the knee extension and ankle mobility was restored, she was pain free, but her stability and proprioception was still dysfunctional. Using the Motion Guidance Clinician's Kit, she was able to drastically improve her SL Stance after a 20 minute session using this progression. She will continue working on this for home along with her knee extension resets and lateral tibial glide resets.
