In the 4th MPE Online Mentoring Session Andrew and the mentees review General Exercise Prescription
  • Keep it simple!
  • What is purpose of exercise? Pain modulation, mobility, endurance, strength, return to sport, etc
  • What access to equipment/space does patient have
  • Dosage of exercises: do we dose exercises for pain modulation/mobility the same as strength/hypertrophy, graded exposure? How does age, comorbidities, previous exercise experience, conditioning level affect dosage?
  • Exercise should be restorative, not overflow someone’s cup!
  • Timing of exercise- no inherently bad exercises, but certain things are not appropriate depending on nature and stage of situation
  • Missing links: unilateral carries, crawling, hanging, single leg work
